Every summer, Modesto becomes the car capital of California. Graffiti Summer — the annual celebration of the city's legendary car culture — draws thousands of classic car enthusiasts, families, and automotive fans to the streets of Modesto for events that honor a tradition stretching back more than 60 years.
At Pabco Precision Auto Body, we have been part of this community since 2006. This year we are proud to be rolling with Modesto — bringing our restored 1965 Ford Mustang to every Graffiti Summer event. Here is everything you need to know about Graffiti Summer 2026.
Why Modesto Is the Home of American Graffiti
George Lucas grew up in Modesto. The cruising nights on McHenry Avenue he experienced as a teenager in the late 1950s and early 1960s became the inspiration for his 1973 film American Graffiti — one of the most beloved coming-of-age movies ever made and one of the highest-grossing films of its era.
Those cruising nights were not invented for the movies — they were real Modesto culture. McHenry Avenue was the place to be on a warm Central Valley evening, lined with classic cars, music pouring from open windows, and a sense of community that was uniquely American. The film captured something genuine about this city, and Modesto has never let that tradition die.

Pabco Precision Auto Body Is Rolling with Modesto This June
We are not just a body shop that happens to be in Modesto. We are a Modesto business — family owned since 2006, founded by Marine veteran Marcial Chavez, built on the same values this city has always stood for. Car culture is part of who we are.
This Graffiti Summer, Pabco Precision Auto Body is bringing our restored 1965 Ford Mustang to all four events. Come find us on the cruise, check out the Mustang up close, and say hello to the team. We will be there all June.
And if you want to get into the Graffiti Summer spirit before the events kick off — we put together the official Pabco Graffiti Playlist. Three eras of music — classic rock and roll from the American Graffiti era, cruise night anthems from the decades that followed, and West Coast fire for the modern ride — including our original anthem Bring It Back.

Modesto Car Culture — Why It Matters
There are car shows all over California. But there is only one Modesto. The reason Graffiti Summer feels different from every other event is because it is not just a show — it is a homecoming. The cars on McHenry Avenue in June 2026 are rolling the same route that inspired one of the greatest American films ever made. The people lining the streets are part of a tradition that has connected this community for generations.
At Pabco we see it every day. The people who bring us their vehicles are not just customers — they are Central Valley drivers who take pride in what they drive. We restore their vehicles with I-CAR certified specialists, manufacturer-approved equipment, and Lesonal premium paints because they deserve the best. That same pride in craft is what Graffiti Summer is built on.
